How to Appeal for NSFAS in 2024?

You need to perform the following steps in order to appeal for your bursary payment.

1. Go to www.nsfas.org.za and then click on “MyNSFAS”.
2. On this page, you will see three options:
   1. Login
   2. Create profile
   3. Forgot password
3. Now choose the login if you already have an account and choose to create a profile if you do not have an account. You need to register an account.
4. In your dashboard, navigate to Track Funding Progress.
5. Now click on the “application progress” tab.
6. You will see a message like “Your application status is unsuccessful” and you need to appeal.
7. Find the option ‘Submit Appeal” and click on it.
8. On the appeal page, you will see the other options like reasons for the appeal.
9. Choose the reason for which you are going to appeal.
10. Now attach all the supporting documents and upload them.
11. Now click on the Submit Appeal button to send your appeal application to NSFAS.

• Decision Made – The appeals committee has reviewed your appeal application, supporting documents, and academic or financial situation. After consideration, they have made a final decision.
• Notification of Outcome – You will be formally notified in writing about whether your appeal was successful or unsuccessful. If unsuccessful, the reason will be stated.
• Funding Status Updated – If approved, your NSFAS funding status and eligibility for the academic year will be updated based on the appeal outcome. Disbursements can start if you previously didn’t qualify.
• No Further Appeals – The appeals committee decision is considered final, so you cannot appeal against the appeal outcome. You must accept the final result.
• Conditions May Apply – If approved, certain conditions may be attached like maintaining academic performance. Ensure you understand all conditions.
