After that, she went into extreme depression as she was the only member of her family who was earning and providing food and education to her children.
Fortunately, in 2020, the government announced the Social Relief of Distress grant for those who have lost their jobs to COVID-19. It was the moment when Nomthandazo Mkhize heard about this grant and applied for it.
She got her application approval and started to get 350 Rand every month to feed and look after her children. Now she is back to her job in 2023 and she is very thankful to the government for the SRD grant allocation.
Story 2: Thabo Moloi (Disabled Person)

With the help of this grant, she was able to manage education, health care, and nutritious meals for her grandchildren. Now she is living happily with her grandkids and she is thankful to the government for this amazing grant protocol.
